How to Change Site Default Text

Submitted by Jean E. Gazis on Wed, 2008-04-02 03:11.

There are a few aspects of the site that can't be edited the same way as the site content, such as the login block. To make changes to the site's basic text elements, use the Localization feature.

If you need to change the default text, for example change "Create new account" to "Register a new user" follow this procedure:

First, make sure you have visited the page where you wish to change something.

  1. Go to the Administer » Site Configuration » Localization page.
  2. Choose the Manage Strings tab (admin/locale/string/search) on the localization page.
  3. Enter in the string (word or phrase) you wish to search for, for example "Create new account" (don't type the quotation marks!).
  4. Go to the Edit area. Type in your replacement text, for example "Register a new site user"(don't type the quotation marks!).
  5. Click the submit button.

Here is a link to the original Drupal.org Handbook page for this.
