Getting Started Tips

(this is for Drupal 4.7, need to update for 5)

To create a static page, go to Create Content, and then choose page as the type of content.

To enter your site's slogan and mission, go to Admin, Settings, then click the first item, General Settings, and it will open a page where you can put the site name (already entered), your email (already entered) and a slogan, mission statement and footer message. (I entered a copyright notice, but you can use the space however you like.) Once you have entered the text, it should show up automatically because the slogan and mission display is already toggled on in the theme (design template).

You may notice that I have added an item called "compose tips" in the create content menu. This is just a page containing a very basic html crib sheet, in case you want to do any formatting inside a page or blog entry. There is no tutorial, but there are help links to the software vendor. It does not take long to learn the basics.

You will see the edit and administrator menus as long as you are logged in. When you log out, you will see the site as any other visitor does. I find it useful at times to keep a separate browwser window open to check the results of any changes as I go along without constantly logging in and out.
